Lockdown Life, My Thoughts And A Few Useful Tips!

We’ve been in lockdown for over 50 days now and I’ve been reflecting on how much life has changed and how we’ve all adapted to this so-called new normal.

I’m not a big fan of writing usually, but in these extraordinary circumstances I find it helpful to put down on paper (err, laptop!) some of my reflections, which I hope will be useful to you, too.

Since the middle of March I’ve not been able to treat clients in person but luckily I’ve been able to follow the progress of some of my existing clients via video link and give them exercises to improve their conditions.

The core mission of my job is to make people feel better and overcome their problems or injuries. I’ve been very concerned for some of them and it’s been incredibly frustrating to know that some are in serious pain and I can’t help them.

As lockdown kicked in, we all have led a much more sedentary life, something I’m really not used to and have struggled with quite a bit mentally.

I advised my clients through a regular newsletter on a couple of simple exercises they can do at home if they are suffering from back or neck pain and to relax the nervous system. Check them out here:

I’ve also tried to keep positive and look at the good things that have come out of lockdown, from spending quality time with my partner, to learning to bake (yes, really, I made a coffee cake that turned out pretty well if I may say so myself!) and having more time to exercise.

I’ve increased my running routine, worked on this site and enjoyed taking part in new online group exercise classes with my sister, a great way to pass the time, keep fit and keep in touch! I’ve also finished my course (ProSport Academy), which has helped me to further develop my skills and be able to treat clients remotely.

I found that learning new skills has helped me keep focused. I know of people who’ve been learning new languages, people who have never done any exercise before suddenly joining Zumba classes and others who are usually constantly on the move learning to calm their nervous system through meditation and yoga.

Whatever you’ve embraced, hope lockdown, or shall I say the partial lockdown that we are in now, has brought some positive in your life.

As always, feel free to keep in touch and if you need my or my sister’s help, you can book an online session with us.

Stay safe, stay happy and keep movin’!
