How Dry Needling Could Help You

I have recently brushed up my skills as I did a two day Advanced Dry Needling (also known as Medical Acupuncture) course in Manchester.

I’m always on the quest to help my clients tackling their pain and this is one of those methods.

How it works is quite simple really; it uses small needles to release muscle knots or trigger points. Knots that most likely are causing restriction to movement and as a result cause us to compensate with other parts of the body which, in turn, can lead to further pain in joints, tendons and so on.

The needles act as an “intrinsic extension of an extrinsic treatment” extension of our hands. The stimulation of the local nerves creates an effect that increases blood flow and stimulates the body to release naturally occurring endorphins.

It’s a method that works really well together with other soft tissue therapy techniques; it helps to get long lasting results as well as figuring out the root cause during in a thorough assessment, which then allows us to create a step by step treatment plan. It’s what separates us from other physios using more traditional techniques and osteopaths.

It may help you next time you get treated so feel free to get in touch to find out more.

Til next time,

Uju
